Homeschooling

I homeschooled my three daughters, Lauren, Aidan, and April for fourteen years. The girls began school in public education. It took time for me to observe their behavior, recognize their needs, and choose a new educational path. Becoming my children’s teacher taught me to listen to each one and meet their needs with an open heart. Homeschooling, as with parenting, opened the door to my growth and transformation.

As April graduated from high school my teaching career ended. Recognizing that what I had created in homeschooling was exceptional, I embarked on a final ‘capstone project’ of reflection. Understanding what I had intuitively created and bringing these lessons to my consciousness were vital. Every Heart Homeschooling is the product of my process.

I have taken the road less traveled and I am blessed. Home education has revealed that loving and knowing myself are the keys to a peaceful home and vibrant education, that my active listening sets my children free to be themselves, and that learning is natural.

Interests

I am an artist and naturalist. Art aids my understanding, awareness, and integration of life lessons and truths. I capture concepts in doodles and simple line drawings,  stained glass mosaics, and watercolor paintings. Naturally, the outer world mirrors the inner world. Unity is a principle of nature.

I enjoy gardening and whole food cooking. My awareness of soil health, plant care, and food preservation is expanding in tandem with my gardens. I imagine a homestead or small scale farm in the near future.

I live in Vermont with my family.
